For you know that Shirk (polytheism) when it mixes with worship it corrupt it and its action is null (no rewards for it), and the companion of it becomes from those who are the inhabitants of the hellfire. It is for you to know what is most important for you to realize: having awareness of that perhaps Allah He will free you from this trap and this trap it is associating partners with Allah in worship.

Allah said in the Quran:

Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He forgives whom He wills sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away. Surah An-Nisa 116.

You must have the awareness of these four principles Allah the Most High mention it in His book.

For you know that Shirk (polytheism) when it mixes with worship it corrupt it and its action is null (no rewards for it), and the companion of it becomes from those who are the inhabitants of the hellfire.

Which means as you are aware of Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism), and it is to single out Allah in worship. It is obligatory that you have awareness of Shirk ( polytheism of all type) because he who does not know about things (such as shirk) shall fall into it (due to ignorance about the matter). It is a must that you are aware of the different types of Shirk for the purpose that you stay away from it because Allah warns us from Shirk:

Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills
An-Nisaa, Chapter #4, Verse #48).

So this is Shirk and the danger of it and Shirk indeed it prevents he who commits it from entering Jannah (Paradise):

” Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise to him,

Al-Maaida, Chapter #5, Verse #72)

And prevented from forgiveness:

Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship). An-Nisaa, Chapter #4, Verse #48).

Hence: this is a great danger, and it is obligatory upon you that you have awareness of it before any danger happens (fall into Shirk). Because of Shirk astray the understanding and intellects ( of the people ) and indeed we know what is Shirk from the Book (of Allah) and the Sunnah.  Allah does not warn of a thing except that He explains it, and He does not command with a thing except that he explains it to the people. So Allah will never prohibit Shirk and tell us to leave it altogether unless He explains to us in the Might Quran conclusive clearly and the Messenger of Allah sallahu wa alayhi wa salam explains it in his Sunnah conclusive clearly.  If we want to know what is Shirk we return to the Book (of Allah) and the Sunnah until we know what is shirk. We do not return to the statement of a person, and this will come.
