Part 3 Explanation of the Four Principles by Shaykh al Islam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab may Allah the Most High have mercy upon him

Shaykh Dr. Salih al-Fawzan

For you to know that Allah created you for worshiping him so know: that worship is not named worship except it is with Tawheed (Oneness of Allah). Such as the Salah is not named Salah except with Taharah (Islamic purity for acts of worship). So when Shirk (polytheism of all type) enters worship, it becomes corrupted (null), such as hadath (major and minor impurities, see footnotes) when it interacts with Taharah.

For you to know that Allah created you for worshiping him: meaning: for you to know from this verse in Quran:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِِ

” That I created the Jinn and Mankind except that you worship me”

Adh-Dhaariyat, Chapter #51, Verse #56)

You are from mankind this meaning enter in this verse from the Quran, and for you to know that Allah did not create you without a purpose, or created you for eating and drinking only.  For you to live in this world and to do as you like, Allah did not create you for that purpose. Allah created you for worshiping Him, and He only made subservient to you these existing things for the purpose of aiding with it worshiping Him. Because you are not able to live without these things, nor do you attain the worship of Allah except with these things (aiding you in this life). Allah subservient these things for you for the purpose that you worship Him, not for the purpose that you become happy with it and to do as you like and for you to be corrupted and sinful, and to eat and drink, not for you to follow your own desires. That is the condition of the beast (animals), concerning mankind, so Allah the Majestic and the Most High created mankind for a mighty purpose and mighty wisdom and it is al-ibadh (worship of Allah).

Allah the Most High said:

“That I created the Jinn and Mankind except that you worship me, nor do I need from you provision”

Adh-Dhaariyat, Chapter #51, Verse #56,57).

Allah did not create you for the purpose to gain profit for Him, or that you collect and gather for Him wealth. Such as the children of Adam some of them work and they collect for themselves a profit. Rather Allah is independent of this. Allah is free from all  the world (His creations), and for this He said:

مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ

Nor do I need from you provision, nor do I need you to feed me

Adh-Dhaariyat, Chapter #51, Verse #57, 58)

Allah the Majestic and the Most High provide food nor does He need food, Allah is independent of food, and He His existence is independent, and Allah does not need your worship, and if you were to disbelieve you do not dimish from His Kingdomship a thing. But you are the one who is in need of Allah, you are the one who needs worship so you can obtain the mercy of Allah. That Allah commanded you with worshiping Him for that purpose is beneficial for you. Because you,  if you worship Him so that Allah Glorified is He the Most High free from all imperfections and the Most High can honor you with all types of rewards. So worship is the reason why Allah honor you in this world and in the next world, and so who is the one who will benefit from this worship? The one who benefits from the worship is the slave himself, concerning Allah the Majestic and the Most High that Allah is independent of His creation.

So know: that worship is not named worship except it is with Tawheed (Oneness of Allah). Such as the Salah is not named Salah except with Taharah (Islamic purity for acts of worship).

For you to know that Allah created you for worshiping Him (Alone), so that worship is not correct nor is Allah Glorified is He the Most High free from all imperfections pleased with the true worship except that you fulfill with it two conditions. If one of the conditions is not fulfilled from the two then worship becomes null.

First condition: that worship is for the pleasure of Allah sincerely, and nor with this act of worship is Shirk (polytheism) if Shirk mixes with worship that worship is null. Such as Taharah if interact hadath (minor & major impurities as urining and defecating and pass gas, and sexual impurities, mense) it becomes invalid, null. Like this, if you worship Allah then you associate partners with Him ( from polytheist acts) your act of worship is invalid, null, this is the first condition.

Second condition: Following, and confirmation of the Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam, for any worship the Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam did not come with for indeed it is false, null, and rejected. Because of Bidah (innovation and newly innovated matters in the religion) and made up things (about the religion of Islam) related to this the prophet sallahu wa alayhi wa salam said:

من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد

Whoever does an action (what one considers to be a deed in Islam) and it not from our affairs ( the Deen of Islam/Sunnah) for it is rejected.

In another narration:

Whoever invents a new matter in our affair (Deen of Islam/Sunnah) this is not from it for it is rejected.

It is a must that worship is in harmony with what the Messenger sallahu alayhi wa salam came with. Not with approvals of the people ( related to innovations and made up things), and their intentions (wishful thinking) and their goals (rather they think it is good). As long as it does not show that the worship is proof from the Shariah (Islamic laws) so it is Bidah (innovation) and it does not benefit the person performing it rather it harms him. Because that Bidah (innovation) is disobedience, and he claims that the innovation is to get close to Allah the Mighty and Majestic with it.

It is a must that the worship is from these two conditions: al-Ikhlas (sincerity worship solely for Allah) and it follows (the way) of the Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam so that it becomes correct worship that is beneficial for the companion of it. If Shirk enters worship it becomes invalid, null, and when it becomes an innovation and there is no proof of it so it is also invalid, null (not accepted). Without these two conditions, there not benefit in al -ibaadah ( worship according to Islamic law) because it is other than what Allah legislated Glorified is He the Most High free from imperfection.  Allah does not except it except that He legislated it in His Book (the Glorious Quran) or upon the tongue of His Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam.

There is no one from the creation that it is obligatory to follow except the Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam. Concern other than the Messenger, that he follows and obey him as long he follows the Messenger. Concerning if he differs from the Messenger so he is not obeyed, Allah the Most High says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ

Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority.
An-Nisaa, Chapter #4, Verse #59)

“Those of you (Muslims) who are in authority” the leaders, the scholars of Islam, so when they obey Allah it is obligatory for you to obey and follow them. Concerning that, they go against the commandment of Allah so that it is not permissible for you to obey and follow them in what they go against. Because there is not an individual he obeys independently from the creation except the Messenger of Allah sallahu wa alayhi wa salam and beside him that he obeys and follows along as he obeys and follows the Messenger sallahu wa alayhi wa salam, and this is correct worship.

Hadath and it is al-Hadath al-Asgar Minor Impurity and al-Akbar Major Impurity. It was asked to Shaykh Salih al Fawzan:

Text from Question what is understood from alhadath al akbar Major Impurity(ies) and hadath asgar Minor Impurity(ies)?

Text of the answer of al-Hadath al-Akbar major impurity it is what is obligatory to make ghusul (wash) like from menstruation blood (when she finish her mense), and Junab (sexual impurities from the sexual relationship which is need ghusul), and postnatal bleeding (after childbirth) these things are al-hadath al-akbar.

Concerning al-Hadath al-Asgar minor impurity for it is what is obligatory to make wudu (ablution), like from urinating and defecating  (urine and feces) and the remaining things the invalidates one’s wudu (like sleeping, passing gas, eating camel meat, pre-ejaculate fluid) so what is obligatory is wudu only for al-hadath al-asgar. What is obligatory for ghusul is for al-hadath al-asgar. Between them, two are differences angle, what is consequent upon al-hadath al-akbar and al-hadath al-asgar is from the rulings which it positions is found in the books of jurisprudence (al-fiqh).
